Salute

             Alina was just promoted as the captain of the local police department.  She wanted to greet each of the 5 lieutenants she will be leading.  She walked up to each one individually, and as is the custom, each greeted the other by saluting.  How many salutes were made?  If she were to meet the entire group of lieutenants at the same time, how many salutes will be made?
